Brian Worley

PYA Analytics, LLC

Brian Worley is President and Chief Executive Officer of PYA Analytics, LLC, a data analytics company headquartered in Knoxville, Tennessee. PYA Analytics specializes in helping companies and organizations utilize their enterprise data and other private and public data to improve profit margins, decrease costs, and mitigate risk.

Prior to his current position at PYA Analytics, Brian spent thirty-five years at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), the last eleven years as a research division director. He developed and directed the most prestigious science agenda within the national laboratory system devoted to knowledge discovery from disparate and dynamic data. The research and development spanned the broad areas of data systems, data analytics, modeling and simulation, and cyber security. As a national lab with national mission scope, the applications included national security, energy assurance, and most recently national healthcare challenges. During the last two years at ORNL, Brian also oversaw a strategic collaboration between ORNL and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to develop prototypes to address the current and future big data needs of the national healthcare system.

Prior positions at ORNL included leading the Computational Sciences Section in the application of high-performance computing to basic and applied sciences and leading the Reactor Physics Group. Brian was trained as a nuclear engineer and earned a PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Brian served as the ORNL representative to the Department of Defense/Department of Energy Big Data Research Collaboration and is currently an Adjunct Professor in the Computational Sciences and Engineering Department at the Georgia Institute of Technology.
